I just had my FiOS tv installed and my internet works fine. but when i turn on my tv it says "channel currently unavailable" for all channels. the guide works but not video no sound. is this normal for the first few hours?

The channels should have been active before the installer left. They're supposed to tour you through the channels and give you a tour of the STB you had installed.
Sometimes when a service is added, such as premiums, they could take 20 mins or so to pop up.
You should call the support number and have them do their magic with the box to re-authorize it.
