LG Problems With Verizon Signal

I just purchased a 32 inch LCD HDTV from LG with a built in DVD player. Apparently this is a new model first appearing in June. I am experiencing frequent occurrences of "no signal". I called the Verizon "helpless" desk and was walked thru a process of unplugging all the inputs into the box and the power chord, and re-plugging. After the box booted up, sometimes the picture/audio would appear - at other times it would not. I'm told that this has to do with the "handshake" protocol between the cable box signal from Verizon and the LG HDTV.  My Panasonic HDTV was experiences no issues at the time the LG was not receiving signal. Has anyone else heard of this issue?  I've heard of "handshake issues Verizon was having with other manufacturers resulting in modifications to handshake protocols by Verizon. How can I confirm that Verizon knows about and is working on this problem?

Try out Component Cables if using HDMI or HDMI if using Component cables. See if that will help out. It may be a port specific issue. Like the TV is at HDMI 1.3 and trying to get the picture to come out at that, and fios will only doe HDMI 1.2. Its a shot in the dark, but my help.

Funny you should suggest this. I switched to components and so far so good. Now if I can only get past the LG built in DVD volume being half the strength of any other input I'll be OK.
