Why so few channels available for Live FiOS TV on verizon.com? You have ABC but no CBS, NBC, or FOX. Why? What's the difference if I can watch on TV or online? Either way, I'm a verzion customer paying for the service. Why omit these major netwoks?

Most probably because the content providers won't let them.
The local stations would be upset if you could watch the live network broadcast online instead of through them.
They lose out on you seeing hte local commercials that they get revenue from.

How come you can watch pretty much everything you pay for on a laptop/tablet at home with Cablevision?

Can you watch ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX live?
Verizon allows a fair number of other channels (more within your house than outside) but it is at least 60+ while outside your house.
And more when apps that some of the content providers have (HBOGO, WatchESPN, etc).
