Menu when TV is turned on

We upgraded to the central DVR with satellite boxes at the other TV's. Now when the TV's are turned on I have to press MENU on remote to get to channel. We have turned off promos, popup, etc. A techician told us to press MENU and STB at the same time to stop it from happening. We have also replaced the central DVR box. I is very annoying.

Can we stop this from happening so a simple power on turns on the TV's?

The only time I see that message is when the STB is turned off. So don't turn the STBs off, just turn the TVs off. You don't save any electricty by turning the STBs off. I have the Quantum setup, never turn any of the boxes off, although Verizon does occasionally turn them off, and then I always see the message to hit Menu. And by the way, you don't have to use the Menu key, the Power key also works.

Quantum boxes work a little different than old boxes. For some people they may want to turn off the boxes. It releases the tuner it is using so other devices or a recording on the main box can have it. If you have a VMS ans 4 IPC's and they are all on different channels, 5 tuners are in use. At that point you could only do one recording without a conflict. The Quantum boxes have an enabled 4 hour sleep timer. This helps to release tuners from inactive boxes. The sleep timer can be disabled in the menu, but if you start to get tuner conflicts you may want to turn it back on. menu- settings - system - media server settings  (or media client settings)- sleep timer.
