Hi folks, I noticed that there are some knowledgable people on these boards and since I spent over an hour trying to get help from Verizon tech support on this, I thought I would ask here....
I'd like to get FIOS triple play, however, I loath the set-top boxes. We may be able to use them in 2-3 rooms only (they are literally impossible to place in other rooms). Nonetheless, I would *have* to have CEC control from the box. My system includes Samsung TVs and other components, a long with a Denon A/V receiver. We use CEC extensively now -- the components aren't anywhere near the TV.
I understand that Samsung's Anynet+ (their implementation of CEC) was broken by some of the FIOS set top boxes. (see, for example, here http://forums.cnet.com/7726-13973_102-3062007.html, and there is also a post on this forum about it). I'm hoping that this issue has been fixed, but would also need to insure that I get the actual model of HW and SW that fixes the problem.
Does anyone know if this problem was fixed? If it was, what was the HW and SW that did it and do you know of a way that I can insure that I get that exact model of box? I would like at least the multi-room DVR to have this issue solved, but likely would need it in two other STBs.
By the way, this is Anynet+: http://www.samsung.com/us/article/use-one-remote-to-control-your-entire-entertainment-system-with-an...-.
There is a post on here that mistakenly uses "anynet" to mean "internet connection", but actually Samsung's anynet is their CEC implementation.
I still don't know what DVR's and STBs might support CEC and whether or not I can make sure to get these particular models.
