My cable Box has a red exclamation mark.

Two days ago my cable box just turned off by itself but the power button light was still on but now it also had a red exclamation mark on the front of the box. I tried taking out of the socket for a few hours and it didn't fix it, can someone help me with this issue please.

   Use your remote and under menu, find 'check/fix set top box errors'. (or something like that).

I tried that but it still is off with the red explanation mark.
