NEW! HD-DVR upgrades

Does anyone has the full scoop on the 'supposed' new HD-DVR upgrades. Verizon reports that HD channel reception will be affected on some models ...What if I have such a model? What exactly is affected and how? I wish the would disclose more information about this UPGRADE to access as to whether the hassle is worth the risk. I have never received a 'Brand NEW" box nor one that lived up to its promise since signing up with Verizon almost 5 years ago. I've gone through 5 of those previous HD replacements (refurbs) usually lasting about 6 months before I had to replace with yet another refurbished one that croaks after another 6 months. I have to admit a squeaky clean DVR sounds too good to be true ...But at what risk!!! What will I gain? What will I lose? Since I still use a HD-Ready television, not a flat panel HDMI model, what exactly is this upgrade going to afford me that present 7232-2 does not?

Any information would be useful, opinions are not!!! So salesman and technophiles need not apply. So if you can answer these direct questions then your information would be most appreciated and gratefully received 🙂

Thanks in advance

What I am told is that the reason for the upgrade is that Verizon is changing some of the HD channels to MPEG4 format to save bandwidth. So if you have a 6xxx model HD STB/DVR then you will only see a screen telling you that you need an upgrade when tuning to one of these new format channels. Since you already have a 7232-2, your box should not be affected and should not be eligible for the free upgrade. Furthermore, there is no upgrade to your model. It is one of the two best that Verizon offers. Perhaps you are confusing the free upgrade offer with the buzz about the new tech that has yet to be released promising to be everything to everyone.

thanks, lacitcacidtrip, I don't know much else about it, only that Verizon was very vague about which boxes would be affected ...and how? And I just didn't want to waste 2 hours on the phone with customer service to find out the answer.

Furthermore if 7232-2 is the best Verizon has to offer, than it's time for a newer model ...lol

Anyone having problems with their new box? I made the switch tonight and the box keeps resetting itself while watching TV. I did the whole reset thing and its been fine for 10 minutes or so now but figured I'd ask.
