Need 2 new remotes

My remotes are broken, I replaced the batteries and that  did nothing, I used the remote from my other box and it worked but within days it was broken as well, Please help

I've heard you can get replacements from Vz by just asking for them.

Haven't tried that.

I have purchased new ones herea: https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/index.cfm/eh/DisplayProducts

It looks like the price has gone up on the 2 button remote.

You can also go the 3rd party route with a Harmony or URC remote

Haven't tried that either

Use the In Home Agent program to diagnose the problem with the remote ... when you get to the screen after you do the obvious troubleshooting, one of the links will say something like "my remote is broken, request a free replacement".

Which remote do you have? If it is the old 4 button remote, which button at the top lights up when you hit a key?

If it is not the STB button, hit the STB button and see if that fixes it.

I have no idea how typical my experience is, but when I spilled something on my remote and it quit working, I called and they sent me another one at no charge.  (I didn't know then that Verizon offers the remote for sale - I thought it was Verizon-owned equipment that I had to call Verizon to replace.)

Most assume that they are renting the remotes with their equipment, but Verizon actually gives you the remotes which are your property unlike most other providers. I know people who would send their remotes back with the stb/dvr's after cancelling service when they didn't have to do that as the remotes were theirs to keep. They were allowing up to 2 free remotes a year if one had issues with them, but people abused it and Verizon started charging because of it. They were still allowing a free remote in the stb/dvr menu if it falls under warranty or other issues, but don't know if they are still doing it for any reason other then replacing under warranty.

I ended up buying a Logitech Harmony 650 remote on ebay for $40 and will never go back to using the fios remotes.
