Need New List of Recommended eSata Hard Drives for DVR Expansion

The three Western Digital eSATA (external Serial ATA) Hard Drive models (DVR Expander) that FiOS recommends for DVR expansion were discontinued by Western Digital. In fact, it looks like WD has dropped all SATA drives.

But there are SATA external Hard Drives on the market from Fantom and Iomega. And probably others. And plenty of hard drive enclosures to convert to SATA. So what is Verizon's updated list of recommended manufacturers and models?

Verizon hasn't updated as new quantum DVR does not support it.

I believe if you find a drive that doesn't have sleep mode, you have a good chance of it working.

Which is why I will never upgrade to Quantum. The available storage on Quantum is poor especially for recording so many programs. And to pay more for it, no thanks.

As for the WD esata, Tivo is still selling them. I had purchased one there and it is working just fine with one of my 7232's. Go to the TIVO website, looking under shop-accessories-storage and you'll find it there.

Quantum has 1tb of storage.

Verizon doesn't intend for DVR to be loing term storage.

Keep in mind that if you use an external drive and the most DVR dies, you lose everything on the external drive.

And quantum costs more not only because if extra storage. It has features that older models don't. Lime streaming DVR programs outside the home.

And I just saw a post on another forum that a total vod relaunch is coming to quantum only.
