New DVR is of poor quality compared to previous model

I recently upgraded to the newer DVR (Media server) by Arris and it is way below the quality I was accustomed to with the previous motorola version (HD DVR 1 MT1228TNN505). We now have issues with tiling as well other issues such as the guide not being able to keep up while browsing the channels. I find it locking up after moving through 10 or so channels.

Is there a fix for this or do I need to get my old equipment back or switch to another cable provider to start enjoying TV again?

Tiling is not expected with this model. Double-check your connections.

There is a software upgrade expected in late January that is hoped to address a lot of the functional issues.

Search the forum for more details.

Thank you for the reply.

There are only the two connections, Coax and HDMI that were touched during the upgrade and both are tight. This box has had a few other issues as well. At one point it would not respond at all to the remote and I needed to power cycle it to fix that issue. We have only had it for a few weeks and it does not impress since it has these issues that the older DVR never had.

The good news is, you're not alone. The bad news is, these problems have existed for months and no solution has been provided as of yet. I suggest one of two things if it bothers you as much as me - get the old equipment or switch providers until they fix the nonsense. That's what we did and we're much happier.
