New Fios TV Installation questions.

I am currently with Direct and have a box on coax into a 2010 Panasonic S2 connected to a simple $300 sound system. I want to soon invest in a BluRay/HDMI connections and an upgraded sound system. The house has Fios cable into the telephone. The wall where the Fios comes into the house faces south and the wall can get to 120 degrees. We are above Lake Elsinore where we get snow and freezing temperatures.I need installation to 3 TV's.

Questions are: Should the Fios box be installed inside or outside. Pros and cons.

How do I know I am getting the latest DVR boxs and not some out of date ones.

What should I buy when the installation is done for BluRay, HDMI connections and the new sound system. I am of course on a budget. Thanks Pete

Wow, you don't ask for much do you? That's a lot of advice on many different topics, well beyond the scope of a simple message, and dangerously prone to personal bias regarding electronic brand loyalties. But here are a few ideas. Regarding the placement of the ONT, the box is water and dust resistant up to elevations around 6000ft and temperatures of 46C. My own box  (in the Northeast) is outside and sometimes under a snow drift, with no problems. I suggest you consult the installer who knows your region and has done other such installs as to whether inside or outside is better (it doesn't make too much difference since he will drill a hole through the house to get inside anyway). The battery backup unit always goes inside. As to HDMI cables, I recommend a High-Speed variant, the only option being with or without internet capability. High speed ensures the largest bandwidth to handle the latest in video protocols, such as 3D, and is future-proof to at least the near future. Internet capability would be important for internet enabled devices. Price is not always a determinant of quality, so I recommend good cables from good retailers like Blue Jeans or Monoprice. Regarding your other concerns for bluray and sound systems, you really need to research some. I recommend avsforum.com for all such concerns as you get to see accounts of real people who have the equipment you may be considering. Some initial starting points might be found in magazines like Sound & Vision (soundandvisionmag.com), or Home Theater (hometheater.com). I like Home Theater because at the end of the magazine they list the best audio and video components they have tested by price categories, entry -mid - high end. The choice on these matters really depends on your lifestyle and usage requirements. Regarding the latest equipment from Verizon,  the newest DVR is the 7232, and non-DVR HD box the 7100-P2. The Verizon website lists those choices in case of replacement advances. Hope this helps some - good luck.
