Just want to comment on how genius this is of Verizon. Can someone explain how you were to go about ordering a new remote if yours is lost or broken?

You can order one using the In Home Agent software on your computer.  See this link.

Uh, maybe use the remote from another STB in your house? Or do it from that other STB? Or briefly borrow a remote from a neighbor? Smiley Happy

There are multiple methods for getting a replacement remote control, including via the TV, InHomeAgent, visiting a local Verizon FiOS store, calling tech support, etc. Using the TV/STB is just one way, and makes sense to me, I have three STBs in the house, I could easily do it from any of them. And FWIW, I have picked up a new remote at a local FiOS store.

Why make a big deal out of something Verizon provides to make the process a little easier?

i see what you mean and it is funny 😛   but in my case, all remotes i've ever had when they break i always lose the volume buttons and one or two channel buttons..  which leaves navigating to order another one ok..  but yeah, if you have a totally broken remote, good luck..   i'd love to hear the phone call on that one.. my remote is broken and i'm trying to use the guide to order another one.. how do i do it?

It is pretty funny, mocha160. Someone didn't think that one all the way through before instructing you to use a damaged or lost remote to order a new one. In my case, there are still enough buttons on the front of my STB's to do the job. Of course I'm so cheap, I'm more likely to search for hours for a lost remote, or disassemble and fix a broken one rather than order it new. The one I'm using right now is due for its third overhaul. Half the buttons are now missing their symbols, but I still refuse to replace it.
