Not getting 1080P from VOD movies

I am paying $5.99 for HD VOD movies and only recieving 1080I signal accoring to my 2012 47" Vizio 1080P LED. Supposed HD box set to native and LED picks up whatever is broadcast. No way to force 1080P. I understand tv broadcast are in 1080I and 720P but I was under the impression the HD movies are broadcast in 1080P. By the way the TV does get 1080P signal from bluray and VUDU. Anyway to fix this or should I just stop using the verizon VOD movies?

Standard LCD for the past 5 years is 1080P. Standard HD VOD from other providers is 1080P. Nowhere does Verizon supply you with the information that it's overpriced lower quality VOD HD movies are not 1080P. Try finding it. I looked around for weeks and I contacted support who did not supply this information. All they talk about is fiber optics and great HD programming. Bottom line it's a scam. Might as well buy a 720P LCD if you are going to get FIOS. I'm going back to Direct TV.

Equiptment QIP6416 DVR.

LED TV Vizio 1080P E472VLE.

I am only receiving 1080I on HD $5.99 rentals.

Box is set to native.

LED achieves 1080P on bluray and VUDU app.

Is this LED problem or Verizon?

It's awfully quiet out there Verizon. Can anyone answer this question???

Short answer.

Verizon doesn't have ANY content that is 1080p.

Best you will get with Verizon is 1080i.

1080 p is pretty exclusive to satellite providers from what I know.

I've had a lot of tv providers and direct was the only one of mine that had 1080 p and it was only for VOD.

According to Motorola website the Q6416 is not capable of 1080P and it is quite old. Verizon list other DVRs in the Motorola 7200 series, that spec out capable to 1080P, as available. Why they gave me the old box is beyond me. Verizon video on demand makes you pay extra for HD movies. What are the non HD 480I? If I get the 7200 series box will I be getting VOD in 1080P or should I just stop renting these 6 dollar movies? I used to have Direct TV and I did get video on demand in 1080P. Verizon leads you to believe you will get HD movies on demand in 1080P but don't directly say that. Very misleading!!!

Like was said in the previous answer, there is no 1080P content on Verizon VOD.  Doesn't matter what generation box you are using the best you will get is 1080, and yes the SD versions are 480i for those with old SD sets that can't handle 720 or 1080.

Verizon has no 1080P content, so if 1080P is a deal breaker for you with regards to their VOD - then yes stop doing VOD with VZ.

I made a similiar choice, and if I can get 1080P through my VUDU and my PS3 then I will.   Depends on the movie.  Some movies I could care less are in 1080P.   So I have more flexibility to find who has the best price.

Where does Verizon lead you to believe you will get HD movies on demand in 1080p?  They say "VOD in HD" which means at best means 1080i using today's HD broadcast standards.  These standards are 720p or 1080i for HD, not 1080p.

IMHO it is not a scam. I'm going to repeat what I said.  "HD" as a broadcast standard is not 1080p, and that's what Verizon service is -- broadcast service over fiber (like any cable company over any medium).  Although many TVs are "1080p" they just upconvert 1080i, 720p, 480p or 480i programming for display in their native format.

You insist that Verizon should explitily state that it is not 1080p, and respectfully I do not agree.  If this is such a deal breaker, go back to DirecTV.  I suspect the bitrates of their 1080p on demand streaming content is lower than that of Verizon's 1080i.

This is my 1st post.

I currently use a Tivo HD DVR/Tuner for my FiOS video. I cannot get the VOD that is bundled into my Ultimate HD service package.

I am considering getting a FiOS HD STB when I upgrade my HDTV.

Is there a setting in the Motorola or Cisco HD DVR to upconvert 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i source material to 1080P, and then output the 1080P to the AV Receiver or the HDTV via the HDMI connector?
