Pixelating, sound skipping, bah!!!!!!!

I have just about had it with this DVR service!!!!  I switched from comcast to take advantage of the multi room dvr service two months ago and it has been nothing but hell!!!!!!!!!

From 9:00pm to 10:00pm I recorded 24.  Also, from 9:00pm to 9:30pm my wife records John and Kate plus 8.  All recordings are set up on the main HD DVR box in the living room.  I then have a standard definition box in one room and a high def box in the bedroom.

I started watching my 24 recording in bed at 9:15pm, the recording was AWFUL!  It pixelated every 30 seconds or so and the voice would drop out as well.  It was extermely frustrating.  If I hit rewind and watched the scene again, it would crap out at the exact same spots.

Figuring it was something with the multi-room service, I went into the living room to watch it from the main DVR.  Same issue!

At 9:45pm I stopped watching the 24 recording and switched to live tv.  No problems whatsoever.  Back to the 24 recording, JUNK.

Just for kicks I played the John and Kate plus 8 recording.  It's playing fine, no problems!!   It was on at the same exact time as 24.  What gives???

This is not the first time this has happened.

I've also run into other problems watching from the bedroom.  A couple of times the recording will get to near the end of the recording, and it will then mysteriously rewind to 20 minutes into the show.

What a mess.  Support is awful, I can't even bare to think that I may need to call them in the near future.

well Normally I would say the channel was pixelating and thus that's how you got the pixelation. but when you watched it live it was fine then go back to the recording and it does it again. The other show you said was fine. Were these shows HD or SD?

Sorry, when I went to live TV, I did not go to the same channel that 24 was on.  Cmon, didn't want to jump ahead 20 minutes and ruin the ending!

These were both HD channels that I was watching.

I have had the same problem off and on with Fox in HD Channel 511. This has happened a few months ago, so I switched to SD and the issue was gone. I am running the set top via HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V611 with HDMI set to auto. I notice that when the audio cuts and the pixilation begins, the receiver changes from Dolby digital to Pro Logic. I checked the other thread, audio 1.6.1 issues, and my current set top version is 1.6.0. I am very annoyed since this only happens on 1 channel. The first occurance, this happened during DVR play back and I also checked the live ch 511 and the same issue was occuring.

Please advise

This sounds suspiciously like the Fox HD stutter. I created a thread for this on the TV entertainment section of this forum that you might want to check. Some report the same issues with a few other channels, but Fox seems particularly susceptible. The concensus is that 1.6.2 will probably fix it. Thank you.
