Placing Fios box in electronics closet

Can this be done with the appropriate "smart" house system using a remote with RF extenders? Thus the Fios box is linked to a different remote and in the closet with other components.

Anyone tried this?

Insight is appreciated.

yes

you can  use an IR extender/blaster  type of setup
