Poor signal strength to television boxes

Recenlty one of my tv boxes stopped working after numerous years of service, nothing had changed. I've now spent several hours on the phone with Verizon, swapped out a total of three boxes and it still states poor signal strength. My next step was to replace the cable to the offending box, the signal was even worse with the brand new cable, and i gave up on that tv box. Last night I went into another room to turn on the television, which was on another seperate cable and that box gave me the same exact status of being a poor signal. The only thing that i had done was the following. While trying to get the first box to work, I plugged the new coax into the second televisons splitter which was located outside. Since that didn't make any changes, I plugged everything back in as it was before all this had started. Now i am beginning to wonder if Verizon has the capabilities of turning down the signal power to individual homes, thus causing this sort of issue. I really find it hard to believe that all of a sudden, two seperate coax cables, 4 cable boxes have mysteriously gone bad at the same time, i have checked all of my connections for tightness, cables for damage and have eliminated all of my stuff. I hope to get some feedback on this issue, or if anyone else has experienced these same problems.

Verizon isnt degrading your signal on purpose. To think that is just crazy.

There's a couple things that can cause a bad signal. One being a bad splitter. Bad splitters (I had one before) will cause issues.

This would be the first thing to check.

Other possible causes would be the line coming into your house or the ONT itself.

If your internet/router is working fine then I doubt its an ONT issue or a line issue.

Bad coax outlets/connections can cause issues as well, but from your description it sure sounds to me like a bad splitter.
