Hello all,
I had FIOS installed last friday and on Saturday bought a new HDTV (The Sylvania LC370SS9). First thing to note, is that there is no universal remote code for this TV. So when I turn the TV on, and then attempt to turn the channel on the STB, the STB will not respond. If I wait 2 or 3 minutes everything works fine. I know it has something to do with the TV because when I have the TV input changed to the DVD player, I can change channels just fine, but the minute I turn the input back to the STB, the STB wont' respond.
Any thoughts?

The TV radiates a lot of power supply switching noise at about 300 Hz, which decreases by a factor of about 5 as it warms up. The remote starts to work when the noise is down by about 4. As for the code, Verizon says their remotes are periodically updated with new ones. This is the code the TV needs:
IR (infra-red) on for 9 msec, off for 4 msec, 3 pulses, 1 pause, 5 pulses, 1 pause, 6 pulses, 3 pauses, 6 pulses, 1 pause,3 pulses, 5 pauses, 1 pulse, 1 pause, 1 pulse.
Each pulse is IR on for 0.7 msec, off for 0.3 msec; each pause is IR off for 1.5 msec.
The prelude of the serial pattern, shown gray, is the same for all functions. I got this data on an oscilloscope using a 10k resistor, battery and opto transistor as receiver … Times are hard at Homer’s lab.

Hello,
The 7xxx series has been running into this issue. There are certian TV's that have been identified are interfering with the IR frequencies of the STB/Remote. No Long term Fixes at this point, all that is being recommended at this time is to move the STB as far as possible to stop it from interfering with the IR signal.
The following Model has been Identified so far, its TV.s ability of changing the picture modes (Vivid Vibrant or Bright)
• Hitachi P50s601 (resolved with 6xxx swap)
• Vizio VX20L 20A (change away from PC input resolves)
• Sharp LC-32SB24U (turn off OPC resolves)
• Phillips 47PFL7403D-27 (only impacted while screen was 'warming', STB IR worked OK after TV on for ~15 min)
• Sharp LC-42D65U (changing picture mode to dynamic resolved in this case)
• Panasonic TH50PX80 (reset defaults on picture settings resolved)
• Sharp LC-32SB23U (changed color mode to resolve?, no details)
• Sharp LC-32D44U (disabling OPC resolved) • Envision L32W861
• Gateway TV - unknown model
Hope this Help
