Programming DVR When Away From Home

This was so easy with Optimum (which overall is not as good) They just had a phone/iPad app, you logged in and set or changed your DVR settings. This Fios Mobile app-all I get is 10 random channels and a thing to control my TV, all I want to do is control my DVR when I'm away, and Verizon FIOS app does not seem to do it, nor My Verizon Mobile. I searched all over the website. Today I had 2 internet chats-one person wanted me to go to some settings on the TV which do not exist, I spent another half hour on that. The second chat person was clueless. Then I got a call that a supervisor would call me in a half hour, that was several hours ago. Then a half hour later a different person called and said a supervisor would call in a half hour and she didn't seem to know what subject she was calling about. So-is there any way that Verizon, which seems to be ahead of Optimum technologically, can do this simiple little thing like letting you set your DVR over the internet? I've spent hours on this.

Watching TV remotely and managing your dvr are two different thing. And each are done in two different location within the fios mobile app. The 21 random channels you can watch are just that. Channels you can watch. Read my first post in this thread and it tells you where to go to set recordings on the dvr. If you cannot get the menu on the left side to open, you have a different problem.

Not sure what is so hard for them. Open Fios Mobile app. There are three line on left edge, touch there and a menu will open on left side. Select TV listing. Find show you want to record and select. In the show details you will have an option to record show or series. If you have multiple DVR's there is a diamond shaped icon next to search. You can chane the DVR you are controling there.

I tried that-but when I am out of range of my router it gives me 51 channels, I counted them, and most I am not interested in. And at the top it says "connect to your home FIOS network for more channels." Well, the reason I am using the app is because I am away from the home network. When I am in range of the home network the app works fine-I get all my channels.

I know on the regular website there is a way to manage your DVR. Tried to do it on the phone internet but it encourages you to use the My FIOS app. If the app made any sense there would be a place to manage the DVR but there does not seem to be place to do it.  Actually nothing even when you use a regular phone browser either, that I can see.

Do you want to watch tv with the app or manage your DVR? Watching TV in on the main page of the app. Everthing else you will do in the menu I mentioned in my first reply.

As I initially explained-all I want to do is program the DVR over a 4G network from my phone while away from home. As the blurb for Fios Mobile says, it, among other things, lets you "schedule recordings remotely...."  Not true! I had numerous chats and phone discussions. When out of my router's range I have exactly 21 random channels available to record (or watch, but that's not the point). When I am within my router's range, every channel is there and I can hit "record." On the phone, I can open a browser and log into Verizon Fios but after hours cannot find listings on the site. So that's that, if you have Optimum, no problem, if you are away and forgot to record a program, simply hit the Optimum app on your phone, hit "iistings"-every channel is shown, and just hit record. Amazing that FIos is supposed to be so advanced and they don't have this.

ohhhh. I misunderstood your first reply. On my phone screen the three little lines in the upper left are half off the screen-half on, I was thinking you meant just below and to the right of that the squares-three down and three across which brings up a 2-across grid of the 21 channels. I should have realized they were not "lines." Clicking on the lines does work and brings up all the listings. I took a walk to get out of range of my router and it works. Thanks. This is a nice feature to have if you are away and become aware of something you want to record or forget to record something.
