QIP7273 "Purple Screen" with HDMI connection

Is anyone else getting this issue:

Very often when turning on the TV and STB i get a "purple screen".  the only way to get around it is to "change channels" on the TV itself and go back to the designated HDMI channel and hope that it works.  this sometimes has to be done over and over again until it actually works.  IF the tv or stb box is turned off, the same procedure may have to be taken in order to get it to work when it is turned back on.

I have switched out the HDMI cable, and have tried it on other HDMI ports on the TV.  no luck.  component works without issue.  This issue has happened since the very begining of having the new box.  Anyone have any suggestions?

The HDMI standard is not quite as tight as it probably should be, and as is often the case, things outside the nominal run of the mill can run into trouble.  It is unlikely to be the HDMI cable. They are pretty much go/no go items. More likely it is a handshake issue between the STB and the TV. Check with your TV maker to see if there are any firmware updates available.

It may be a known issue, for which a firmware update to the TV has been issue. Otherwise talk to Verizon, it could also be on the STB end, in which case it is likely to be fixed by Verizon, but the time frame is likely to be weeks/months rather than days.

Fortunately the Component interface is much simpler, and there is very little 'wiggle' room in the specification, so it almost always works perfectly.

I am having the exact same issue!! I have a new FIOS HD box installed last week and I have a 4 year old Sony Bravia TV. When I turn my tv on the screen is purple (I'm hooked up to HDMI) I have to either power cycle the set top box or reboot it to correct the issue. I'm going to try component cables to see if this fixes the issue but this is a total bummer.

I have found this purple screen issue occurs when HD programming has a local non-HD commercial come on and it seems to confuse the HDMI connection and the screen flips into a purple tint that can only be returned to normal when I power off and on the receiver or DVR.  Any one have a solution to this issue yet or do I need to switch providers?  All Verizon suggests is to reset my DVR box over and over and it does not solve the problem.
