Quantum question

We installed a new Quantum system yesterday with a server and two client boxes. The server is in the living room and the clients are in the Kitchen and Bedroom.

Is it normal operation for each client to show ALL recordings and shedules? Is there any way for example, the client in the bedroom to just display the recordings scheduled and the recorings list by that particular client instead of the whole system?

If not, It would be a very nice feature to have.  Even nicer would be the option of seeing your local stuff or all as you could in our old Verizon system where we had two DVRs.

 Thanks.

Thanks. Much appreciated.  Would be a nifty software upgrade to be able to segregate the lists via client.

Issue is the way Quantum works.
All of the tuners and recordings reside on the VMS.

So it is not segregated by client.

I beelive even the new Tivo is set up the same way with a single server and satellite boxes that are just a client.

One issue I could see with that.

How do you esnure that two clients don't try and schedule the same show to record.

Or you "recorded" a show on one client (say the living room) and now want to watch it in the bedroom.

Do you have a feature to see local and then all?

Concept from Verizon is that the VMS (Video Media Server) is a server to service everything.

That is why the concept of the clients was developed.

Put all the smarts in one central lcoation and have all of the remotes stream from it.

This allows you to start a program on one client and resume it on another for example.
