Random numbers on both Set-Top Boxes

I just had an interesting situation - both of my FIOS set-top boxes were displaying what appeared to be random numbers that changed every few seconds.  The problem cleared up on it's own after a few minutes.  I didn't attempt to turn on the TVs during that time so I don't know if the TV service was affected, but I assume it was.  Internet service worked fine, although perhaps a bit sluggish.  I hadn't cycled the power on either set-topbox, nor had the house had any sort of power interruption.

What would cause this to occur?  An update to the set-top boxes, perhaps?

Thanks for any info.

Depending on the model of STB, it may display what appear to be random numbers during the boot process.  This process happens when the STB is powered-up or powered cycled, if a reset is initiated from the local menu or if a reset command is sent from the Verizon system.

If everything is working now and it doesn't happen again, I wouldn't worry about it.

Good Luck.
