Receiving FIOS Clear QAM signals

Please.

Can anybody list usb hdtv tuners (for computer) that will receive FIOS Clear QAM channels (located in Pittsburgh, PA)?

I have purchased a usb hdtv tuner that is supposed to be able to use Windows7 Media Center as the decoder, only to fail miserably no matter how many times or which way I try to configure signal.  I keep getting the same message, "Windows Media Center is unable to determine your TV signal configuration.  Make sure a live TV signal is connected to the computer, then try again".

Using a small antenna (and not the Verizon cable), it does configure signal, but though I get some, I can't get all the unencrypted channels available (as the antenna is not capable).

Thanks in advance.

How about an Hauppauge 1191?

One thing to keep in mind. A tuner that can decode over the air digital signals is not the same as QAm. Over the air uses ATSC vs QAM for FIOS. Make sure the tuner says it supports QAM.

When you installed the tuner, did you have to select between Analog, ATSC, or QAM support?   If not, then it's iikely the tuner is set to ATSC  mode and not seeing the QAM channels (the tuner can only tune one set / type of channels at a time).

See this for an overview of the their Win7 software which shows where you have to select the format you want.

lansagna,

sorry so late in reply.  (lot's of overtime - a good thing).

with the hp tuner there is no decoder software (probably the biggest mistake i made).

what i mean is that i didn't get Win TV software.

supposed to be able to use Windows Media Center.

do you think that if i got a copy of Win TV v7, it would work with the hp?

also, found this:
