Remote DVR, not responding

For a few weeks my remote DVR service was working perfectly but 2 days, the service stopped working, it would just endlessly try to load the disk space or any other info requested, and other times, it will just say that the dvr box is not responding.

I have tried power cycling everything, the problem still happens. I have also tried factory defaulting the router as well as trying another router (by bridging the coax and ethernet and disabling the  dhcp so the router will act just as a switch allowing my linksys to assign ip's and handle all traffic, then putting the DVR on the DMZ, (scans show all ports are open to the DVR) and the remote DVR service still refuses to load.

Is there a way to do a remote reset through the verizon website instead of calling them on the phone?

also is anyone else having this problem and did they ever get it fixed (if so, how? )

PS I am using a DVR  QIP6416-2

I ran into something similar because the DVR would change it's TCP/IP Address and not udate the forwarding rule in my Router via UPNP.  I was able to make my STB use a Static Address with a DHCP Reservation and then enabled and re-enabled the remote dvr feature on the STB to update the Forwarding Rule and it has been ok ever since.

To make the DHCP Reservation on the Actiontec:

  • Select Advanced
  • Select IPAddress Distribution
  • Select ConnectionList
  • Select the STB from the List and Edit
  • Check off the Static Lease Box
