I keep PUSHING BUTTONS with frustration.
Here's a present problem. Anyone have an idea how to correct.
The TV attached to FIOS is a JVC. Here's my problem that arose for the 1st time last night. The TV's "MENU" has a "background box" ........when the TV MENU goes off,
I AM GETTING A BLANK BACKGROUND BOX that PERMANENTLY takes up about 70% of the picture (centered). I must find out how to TURN OFF the boz.

It sounds like the closed captions might be on.. To check if the closed captions are on for the cable box you can press the stb button on the remote and then the * button (left of the 0<zero>).
If they are off, I'd suggest checking the closed caption setting on your tv. If you have your television remote (The one that came with tv) most of them have a button for closed captions, make sure they are turned off.
