Repeater Compromised

I have a new HTS, Sony STR-DH700.  I've set it up with HDMI cable going from my Motorola HD DVR to the Sony HTS, then via HDMI to the Samsung TV.  It works for about thirty seconds before I get a big message: "HD Content Protected.  Repeater has be compromised.  All devices connected to Repearter..."  that's all I could copy before I lost picture.  I've read other lines here about others being able to connect through their HTS.  Why can't I?  Is this Sony not up to par?

Just due to HDCP being very strict, you can run into these handshake issues. Many of home theater owners have issues, not just Sony. You can go HDMI direct to your TV then go optical out to your home theater system and still get the same quality audio.

First, I bought the Sony HT unit so I wouldn't have to keep switching both the HT unit and the TV everytime I switch from BD to Verizon and back.  Secondly, since I've this all began I can't get any signal, even though I've rerouted the HDMI direct from the receiver box to the TV and have sound going back to the HT unit.  I guess I have to check with Sony and Samsung to figure out what's wrong.  Another possiblity is to switch to Direct TV so that I can get a person out here to connect things without me being charged an arm and a leg more than I'm already paying.  It's short sighted on Verison's part not to provide such a service.
