Replacement DVR

I'm replacing my DVR since it would not connect to my laptop and media manager.  How can I keep the programs I have recorded on the old DVR so I can watch them on the replacement?

I have not heard of a way to copy off of the old dvr on to a new one.

That sucks!  There's no way to swap boxes and save programming?  How about connecting the two boxes in some way? Maybe through a usb cable or something?  Any Ideas?

you can try searching in google, I have not found any information, the usb ports are disabled on the boxes.

Connect  a VCR or DVD recorder to the composite (or s-video if your recorder can do it) and the l/r stereo outputs of the dvr and play on the dvr and record on the vcr/dvd ... that's the only way to get content off the box ... unless you have a device to records from firewire. that port is active too.

firewire only works to display picture does not do data transfer.

Yes I know ... That's why I said records not transfers data.

right, just wanted to make sure it was crystal clear, no way to remove data from the dvr, only the video feed.
