SD/DVR RCA hookup question

I am swapping a SD/DVR settop box from a regular SD settop box. I have connected new RCA audio/video cables from the back of the SD/DVR to the TV (which is quite old & doesnt have fancy connectors as the other TV). Everything is connected fine the SD/DVR powered up BUT....there is no audio or video getting to the TV. The TV is working but nothings happening. Suggestions please? or do i have to return to the plain old regular SD box?

I assume you are talking about the yellow, red, and white RCA cables correct? Is your tv on ch. 3?

If they are hooked up the same as the old box then it should be working unless the new dvr box requires you to use composite cables.

In that case you would need an rca to composite adapter.

What model box do you have?

Oh ok so you are using the black S video cable instead of the yellow rcw one for video?

It should be working. To me it sounds like you may have a faulty box, but hard to say unless one checks it out. I would call Verizon and see what they say.....if you can get anywhere with them or run it by a local store if theres one by you and see if they can trouble shoot it. Theres no reason one box would work different over the other one you had when they are connected the same way.

If I understand you correctly, you are using all RCA cables, Red,White and Yellow.  That means on the TV you MUST use one of the AV inputs, NOT Channel 3.  The RCA cables carry sound and composite video, so they are not 'over the air' type signals.

So try selecting the AV inputs on the TV (There may be more than one), and I am pretty sure your Video and Audio will appear.
