STB no longer recognizes my external HDD

My set top box (QIP-7232-P2) no longer recognizes my external eSATA HDD.  The recorded programs still appear in the listing on the View recordings menu but they will not play.  Any suggestions on how to access them?

Have you tried rebooting box?

Or disconnect and reconnect HD?
