Just switched from Comcast (to save money). One complaint is that the SD channels do not fill the screen ( they did with comcast ). I made a change in settings to the "stretch" mode this filled it in horizontally but still has black space top and bottom. Any suggestions???

That's because a lot of networks, like Fox News and I think TBS, have begun downconverting their HD programs to their SD feed, so that they're letterboxed (black bars on top and bottom because it's a 16:9 signal fit into a 4:3 without chopping off sides). Your option to fix that is to use your TV's picture settings to change the screen size.
Personally I don't mind the black bars on either side -- once you start stretching any picture away from its natural size you are distorting it.
