Silence during commercials

Although it seems like I should not be complainign about this, it is a bit annoying. We when are watching HD local NBC (504), the audio is cut out during most commercials and now during NBC promos and end of shows while credits are rolling. Is anyone else experiencing this drop-out?

How are you connected from the STB to the TV?   HDMI?

If so, you could be experiencing an audio channel negotiation problem.   Try this:

- With the STB and TV turned on, on the front panel (not the remote) of the STB press in succession at about 1/2 second intervals: Power, Select, Menu

- After a few seconds, a menu will appear on screen titled "User Settings".  Using the cursor buttons, scroll down to the "Additional HDMI Settings" line and press the Right arrow

- On the menu which appears, scroll down two lines to "Audio Output" and press the Right arrow until it read L-PCM

- Press the Power button on the STB turn off the box

- Press the Power button again to turn the box on

See if this fixes the problem.   If not, repeat the process and try "Pass Through" as the audio option.

Please tell us exactly what brand and model of TV you have. I will immediately go to a local store and, if possible. buy at least two!!!

... and oh yeah ... I'm with GaryDoug here ... any manufacturer of a TV that can have it automatically mute commercials is a brand that I must own!
