Slingbox 500 Installation

I have a QIP6416-2, a Sony BDV-T79 Home Theatre System, and SonyXBR6 (52"). I just tried to hookup a Slingbox 500, without the BDV-T79, just straight between STB & TV. With HDMI connections I get 4 seconds of video before it quits (repeatable, every time I disconnect/reconnect the HDMI cable). I tried component connection to the Slingbox and it didn't work. (Not sure the STB's component outputs are active-- cabled it directly into my TV and got no video, but TV did recognize the connection was there.) SlingMedia and FiOS tech support haven't been able to help. FiOS TS said all outputs are always active on the STB.

Am I getting problems from HDCP and SOC? R

Any suggestions?

Sounds like your box may be bad.

I have had dual connections from all my DVRs (6416, 7216 and now VMS).

HDMI to TV and then composte/svideo to DVD recorder.

If Component doesn't work to TV, then there is a problem.

As I was thinking, but I don't like to cry "hardware trouble" until I'm sure I haven't screwed it up.
