Transfer DVR Schedule from cloud to new DVR

I just upgraded my DVR box.  Before I did, I used the "transfer schedule to the cloud" option.  Is there any way to now download that schedule onto a new DVR?

I finally figured it out.  Thanks for not making this clear VZ!  So here is how you do it.  Before you disconnect the old DVR, make sure your DVR is named.  To do that go to "Menu, Settings, Set-Top Box, and Set-Top Box Name".  Then Click the DVR Button, and go  to Settings and "Export Series to the Cloud".  Your schedule is now on the cloud.  Then when the new box is installed and activated, go to DVR and "Create a Recording"  Attempt to create a series (preferably one that existed on the old DVR).  You should get a pop-up prompt asking you if you want to download your schedule from the cloud and warning you it will overwrite any existing schedule.  Say yes or OK.  If the series you tried to just create was one that existed already, it will notify you that the series already exists.  Now if you go back to the series manager, you should see all your series.  The process is near instantaneous so if you don't see your series immediately, something went wrong.  You can plug the old DVR back in and try exporting to the cloud again.

Was just about to reply that your solution didn't work but oh man is it buried.  You need to search for a show the same as you have on the cloud then select it, then save series, THEN (if I'm remembering right) it asks if you want to get from cloud and it gets every show from the cloud.

The import of the cloud-stored settings is now a separate item under in the IMG 1.9.4 update so it is easier to activate.

AAT, ThankYouThankYouThankYou.

Verizon just sent me two new DVRs (500gb) to switch out with older ones (160gb). I expected to lose recordings but wanted to transfer series recording schedules. The Verizon phone rep said it wasn't possible. She also said she wasn't sure if the new boxes would have more recording capacity and she couldn't find out if they did nor how much more capacity they would have if any.

Your six-month old post worked perfectly to transfer my series recording schedule.

I find it amazing that Verizon makes it so difficult to find this information. The phone reps should be able to guide customers. And the literature that comes with the new DVRs should tell customers how to transfer schedules. Doesn't Verizon want to keep customers?

All they have to say is, "We are so sorry that you will lose your recordings. But we'll give you a month to watch anything you had already recorded. We know you may have wanted to keep some of those recordings and for that we're sorry. But as a consolation, you'll get much more recording space, speedier remote response, and an easy way to save your series recording schedules to your new box--all at no extra charge." Simple.

Anyway, Thanks again

I'll be trying that later today. Had a 7232 go belly up yesterday - after only 1-1/2 months of use btw - and am supposed to receive its replacement today. We'll see how the process works. Lost a boatload of recordings, including a lot on the external drive. Wish Verizon would change the marrying process between DVR and external drive.

This situation is not a Verizon thing.  It's related to copyright issues and industry attempts to thwart illegal copying.  I don't see this changing any time soon, although it would be nice to have a work-around for users who are legally entitled to copy, view, and use content for personal consumption..

Dish originally married their external drives to the DVR's.  But they eventually changed to a marrying to the account (household) so disks coudl be moved between machines.  It would be nice if Verizon could do the same.

Excellent idea, and it should be done.  Not sure how the technology would be implemented for existing accounts, particularly with respect to existing eSata drive hardware, but definitely worth investigating.  Also would make a neat upgrade for the Verizon Media Server (assuming it ever arrives on the scene).
