Unable to activate replacement set top box

I recently requested a replacement set top box be sent. It was supposed to arrive July 3, but, by luck, I got it on June 26. My problem is I am unable to activate it. Calling tech support, they show a system set date of July 3rd, and no one can override it. So, I am told I have to wait for the 3rd to install it. Is there no one that can override this?

Have you tried to activate it yourself?

It should have paperwork with the activation code

I did. It prompted me to call. I was told that the box is listed as still in the store. They attempted to change the date to activate on their end, but couldn't.
