I'm having the same issue.  I feel like some millennial said "hey, we can advertise to them, after all, they're a captive audience, and we will provide ways to modify their favorites, but then inject our(Verizon's) choices back in when we want.  This will show them we have more content for additional $$$ and they will buy more".  As one Verizon FIOS customer, I say this;  I already pay too much and I don't need your additional content AND I don't want to be informed about new content, I don't care how wonderful you think it is.  Combine your promises to replace my equipment(8 years old now), and never doing so, the slow/sluggish remote control functionality and now this new advertising concept.......I'm really close to dropping your service.  If it were not for my wife, you would already be gone.

And for the Verizon lurker, I'm posting this so non -verizon customers know how you treat your long term customers.

You can reduce the amount of Verizon advertising you see. But you can't get rid of it anymore than you can get rid of commercials during shows if you watch them in real time.

I believe other providers do the same thing. Just like every other company out there, looking for new trvrnue streams.

As for promising to reaplce your equipment, never heard of anyone claiming that before. Do you have problems or just want to upgrade?

I have been with Verizon for a number of years (could be 8 or more). I have upgraded equipment twice. Not sure what you are looking for.

Rob, I agree with you. I've been a customer since June 2008  and have upgraded all my equipment as well (orignally had a 2500 and 6200 DVR now have a 7232 DVR and 7100), at no extra charge for swapping the equipment. We have Comcast at our shore house (no FiOS available) and they bombard you with Ads in thier guide as well.

??? Your favorite list should only include the channels you specify.  No unwanted channels at all.

Hello all,

I too lost control of my favorites channel filter. I would delete all in my favarites 2 and then enter only 1 channel only to find it populated later with a dozen of others plus mine. Searching the net and forums was of little help so I went to the fios support site and was invited to a live chat. Expecting the worst, lost time while following a standard troubleshooting script I was pleased to find a representative who was knowledgable and helpful.

The represtenative had to do a hard reset on the settop box and warned me beforehand that I would loose all my favorites both 1 and 2. I agreed and went through the process. Once completed he had me try to add favorites to see if it worked. It did! Even thought I had to spend a few minutes repopulationg my favorites it I now feel relieved to be back in control.
