I just purchased a new TV cabinet that has doors on the bottom where the cable box is. I was wondering if I can use anything so that I can still use the remote but keep the cabinet closed? I have a DVR (it is a 7 series) Thanks.

You can call Verizon and ask them for an IR extender. It has a connector on one end and a remote IR eye on the other end. Or, you can use what I use to control the STB, DVD, player, etc, in a bedroom closet:
It converts your remote's IR signal to RF and then back to IR on the other side of walls, doors, etc. Works great. Lasts a long time. 🙂
