When my FIOS TV, Internet and Phone bundle was installed the tech left my existing WiFi router in place and wired directly from the FIOS router to my router. He said "your router will continue to give better WiFi coverage than our router."
Since switching to Quantum I have been unable to use my iPad as a "remote." It appears that i need to conect the iPad to the FIOS WiFi rather than my own router. Is that correct?

When using the FIOS app, the device with the app and the STBs need to be on the same subnet.
You can do that one of two ways:
1) Connect device to FIOS router.
2) Change your router to an access point.
If you want to do #2, google your rotuer model and access point to see how to do it.
