Same problem, I'm in NY. Tech support guy just told me VOD is down in my area, expected to be fixed by tomorrow morning. They better refund their customers for failure to fulfill their SLA and provide the service we're paying for.

VZ does some things well, and other things not so good. They do pretty good at the whole internet thing, which is where they seem to be concentrating. With their recent partnership with Redbox, they are looking to establish a streaming service similar to Netflix for both FIOS subscribers and non-subscribers for a reasonable (rumored) $6 per month. What this all bodes for the traditional VOD is unknown, but it is clear that many customers may choose the new service for an entire month, at the price of a single VOD rental. If VZ anticipates a large number of customers switching to the new service (later this year), then it stands to reason that they might not invest heavily in the infrastructure to keep VOD in top form. Or maybe VOD prices might come down since they would be in competition with themselves. Anyhow, it will be a while until this all shakes out.
