Woah there, I'd like 1 7232 and 4 7100 P2's, I can drive by the SHE to pick them up if that is necessary 🙂

I can confirm ... I just upgraded my last SD STB to an HD unit and the new box that I received in the mail was a QIP7100.

Verizon has had the QIP7100 p1 for quite a while now. (over a year if I remember correctly). Its been the 7216 and 7100 up to now. On the dvr the 16 refers to the 160gb HD. The new 7232 refers to a 320gb HD. As for the 7100, they're using version 1 right now with version 2 to come. v2 should be more energy efficient with a faster processor.

Ah yes ... I see. The box I received is a 7100-1. So, no -2 yet here. So, any idea on if Verizon will let you swap out your existing DVR for the larger capacity when they come out and how exactly to go about asking for it? The current unit I have -- a 6416 -- has pitiful little recording capacity if you're recording in HD!

Any word on when the QIP7232's are going to reach RI? I'm ready to trade in my QIP6416-2 with it's skimpy hard drive... yesterday!

they are in testing right now. They are not yet available to anyone. The word is that they should be out sometime soon but no confimation of that yet. My buddy at Verizon says that the last he heard the new 7232 was supposed to be out mid year (meaning anytime now) and the new Cisco boxes by the end of the year. However he says that the note that was telling them that has disappeared and no new info has been posted so he is not sure if those timelines still apply. We will just have to wait and see

It means that new 7323 will not be availavle this year - Verizon never keeps their timelines. Next spring is the earliest datefor the new box - mark my word. Plus, dealing with Verizon for many years, it will be next to impossible to swap old 6416 DVR for the newer one, as they simply will not be able to keep up with demand for new boxes

wow they are going to be using 2004 technology. I was wondering what happened to all the 320 gig hard drives. I bet they will be talking about how you can record 160 hours of SD programming .. like someone actually records that...
