Way to address a remote to a set-top to avoid interference with another set-top in the same room?

I have a Motorola QUIP6200-2 and a Motorola QUIP7100-2 settop boxes in the same room, both of them come with the same model of remote control (VZ P265v1.1 RC). Anytime I try to control one settop box with the remote it also controls the second settop. I tried to cover the infrared transmitter on the front of the remote with tape to reduce its IR power but it doesn't block the signal also received by the second settop box. Both settops are placed in opposite corners of the room. I need to know if is possible to address one remote to a specific settop to avoid being received by the second one. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Blocking the IR receiver is the only way that you can possibly block the interence. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes you.
