I'm not interested in any special features. Just digital to analog conversion.

I have three analog TVs that require conversion. I hate ongoing subscriptions for equipment. I prefer to own.

I have seen them on sale on eBay, they are not fios specific. You can always look there, as far as other 3rd party ones go I have no idea.

Actually we provide the first (3) DCT's for free to customers. To my knowledge there are no other digital converters that work with our service.

CharlesH, I wish you could then talk to the two Verizon reps that I had talked to. They both informed me that the installation is free for up to three DCTs (big whoop) but that I would still be required to pay the rental fee for them. If you have some other company policy that I can cite, I would appreciate it.

Most area that deal has expired. I don't know if any are still running that. I believe you can call {number no longer valid} its the line setup by the fios group.
Before getting a DCT on ebay or anywhere else I would find out if you can use a non fios DCT on the fios system. There maybe a software lock on the device, kind of like cell phones. I am not sure.

Any DCT-700 has to be activated by Verizon to enable reception and they won't authorize a box they didn't supply.
There are QAM tuners avaialble that will recive the "CLEAR QAM" signals only (local SD channels, local Digital channels (HD), music channels and PEG channels) - these ARE NOT the converters available for the government DTV coupon program.

Yes, this is all I need. I can use a QAM tuner with my analog TV and FiOS then?
