What is the HDMI port on the back of the Fios box for?

I tried to plug my laptop into it with my hdmi connection but I'm not sure if it did anything, could someone please explain to me why there's an hdmi port on the back of my fios box?

it's a hdmi output. the hdmi port on the laptop is probably an output too, that's why nothing happens. use the hdmi port to output the signal from the laptop or stb/dvr  to a connected hdtv or monitor.

Hello,

 

An HDMI cable is normally used to connect a FIOS set top box to the television for viewing high-definition content.

 

And as omelette had said, the HDMI port on the STB is an HDMI out port designed to deliver sound and video signals from the STB to the TV.

Similarly, the HDMI port on your laptop is also an HDMI out port designed to deliver sound/video signals from the laptop to another device such as a monitor or TV.
