Charles,

I guess you should pretty much ignore me for new things, I am an old &^%$# that really has no interest in most of new stuff (what I would call crap) that is "in" these days. I buy the FiOS service for my phone to work, my internet to work, and my TV to work. I don't Tweet, I don't go to My Space, and there are a lot more "don'ts" for me and my wife.

Yeh, I can see the social networking thing being something that most people wouldn't really be interested in.  How about something like...a yellow pages from your TV or "featured restaurants" or something of that nature?  Maybe events happening in your area? Booking tee times or restaraunt reservations? Simple stuff like that. Maybe...I liked this season of lost, can i press buy it now from the guide and amazon mails be the DVD's/Blurays and just have it billed to my fios account?

If your car has two flat tires, it doesn't matter what car wash you go to and how pretty you make it look.

Hi everyone, my first post here, nice to meet you all...

My biggest complaints are the facts that the hard drive on my STB (Motorola QIP 6416) is so unbelievably small and that an external hard drive CANNOT be connected! I just upgraded to the "Extreme" package so that I can receive more HD channels, but the fact that I can only record 20 hours of HD shows is pitiful, yet I'm paying for the use of an HD-DVR!

I just recently found out that TiVo can be used on FIOS, so I'm seriously considering going that route, purely because of the HD space issue.  What's the point of having (and paying for the use of) an HD DVR but only being able to use if for 20 hours of programming! Doesn't Verizon see this as a problem?

So those would be the things I'd like to see improved the most.

Accurate Channel listings, that actually describe what the current program is or what the upcoming program is.

My thought exactly!

I just got married and since my wife has Fios I am now a new Verizon Fios customer.  Before I got married I had DirecTV and found the 100 hour HD-DVR to small for me (so I had 2).  When I started researching Verizon I was shocked that all they offered was 20 HD hours on their DVR.  (and they expect one dvr with 20 hours to service a family with multiple televisions?)  I have always been curious about Fios and have heard great things about it, but this is the first time I've been in an area where it was available.  Now I'm not sure I want to keep it.  😞

Jeff,

I came from DirecTv and had a TiVo, but DH wanted high def, so to FIOS we came. I've been researching a little bit and it looks like you can buy a TiVo brand DVR with lots more hard drive space and use it with FIOS. I don't think you can access FIOS video on demand, but honestly the last time I watched a network broadcast show on VOD all the functions were disabled and I was forced to watch the commercials, so I don't think I'll miss VOD.

Somewhere I read a price comparison of what TiVo would cost for a year and it was comparable with the FIOS HD-DVR cost. I'm just beginning to check out the costs, but I LOVED TiVo, so I'm thinking that's probably the way I'll go.

I seriously don't want Verizon to do one single thing to FIOS TV until they figure out a way for their customers to record more than 20 hours of HD programming. Paying for HD but having to record in SD because of Verizon's ineptitude is unacceptable to me.

Hope you figure out something else for yourself soon.

What would I like to see FiOS offer in the future?   Hmmmm..... let me think.

Perhaps a HD-DVR that was the size of AppleTV or Mac Mini with 4TB solid state memory storage for storing all of your recordings.  Perhaps a built-in DVD burner slot to burn some of your favorite recordings in a matter of minutes.  Something so compact and portable that I could throw it in my laptop bag (or wife's purse) when we go on trips and we could easily plug it into a hotel flat panel TV to watch our shows.

Obviously, standard-def channels would be a thing of the past and would love to see full 1080p broadcast support.  Would love more streamable content from future sites like Youtube-HD and Hulu-HD.  uPnP/DLNA support that could pull movies stored on my local computer or NAS.

I'll post more if I think of anything.

That's what I'm looking for.  That's something I didn't even think of either...portable DVRs.

This thread is more for a few years down the road...what will you be expecting or wanting from TV service. Not the FIX this first thread...

how about an "actor-watch" or "movie-watch" message?

you can set your box to notify you if a movie will be coming on in the next day or two that matches your favorite actor/actress/director/movie list.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there. --Yogi Berra
