When going to FIOS-TV, often get audio-only, no video... have to reset

I have an HD Tv with a DVR,

When i try to go to on-demand, more often then not, I get Audio only and no video. Then if i try to cancel out, i get regular tv audio and no video. It normally works after turning tv and fios box off then back on again, but this is quite frustrating.

Need some more information. Are you connected with HDMI or component? Does the issue happen when  going from SD to VOD or HD to VOD or both?

Connected via HDMI, have trouble coming from HD to VOD or SD to VOD, or sometimes VOD to HD and VOD to SD, same issue on both ends, audio only, no video.

I was having the same type of issues but mine was mostly switching between SD and HD. I have a Sony Bravia HD TV connected via HDMI. The fix some referred to me was to try turning the sd override setting to off. I found the issue was also resolved if i put the sd override to stretch instead of 480i or 480p.

I am pretty sure that is going to be your standard HDMI problem.  HDMI when it works, is gorgeous, but it was a rushed technology so it's kinda questionable whether it will work well for you or not.  What I would do before switching over to a different set of HD Cables, is try switching the port on your TV (multiple places to plug HDMI in)  try changing the cable itself, and also go into the video settings.   so that would be menu -> settings -> video settings and then the first one I think is video format, switch that to 720P (better than 1080i anyway) and see if it makes a difference.

If all else fails and I might be a bit pessimistic about this, but I think it will, you will want to switch to component cables.  they also deliver upto 1080i.  you will just have to think about how you are doing audio -  if it is just cable box and tv, then use RCA cables for stereo sound, if it is a home theatre system, see if you have digital audio inputs and go that route  or optical audio would be best I Think.

good luck, let us know what works.
