I'm preparing to jump ship from my current setup (DirecTV with Directv DVR and STB), to my own setup using Fios with cableCARD with PCs.
Current Setup:
- Living Room: DirecTV DVR box
- Bedroom: DirecTV STB (no dvr, but HD)
New Setup:
- Living Room: PC with Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe Card running Windows 7 and WMC.
- Bedroom: PC with WMC or XBOX 360
What I intend to do is get Fios Prime HD TV service with 1 cableCARD and plug that into our living room PC, then use an Xbox or PC with Wifi as an "extender" in our bedroom.
We would ultimately like to watch live HD TV (different channels) in both living room and bedroom at the same time. We would also like to be able to record in the Living room. We aren't concerned with VOD or 'widgets' or the other things that come with a Verizon DVR/STB box.
Will this scenario work?
Thanks in advance!

Yes the setup will work. Your tuner card has 4 tuners. You can share a tuner with an extender. Ceton makes the Echo that is an extender. I have 2 Echo's. I don't thinks a PC can be used as an extender. Your Xbox can be an extender. I use my second media PC to read from the same folders as the main media PC. Setup is straight forward. Haven't had any issues with my setup.

Great, thanks! Interesting that I can't use a PC as an extender. I'm still doing my research, but this is suprizing. I just assumed, I could use another PC with WMC if i wanted to. You're saying that I can't, and i need an official extender, like the Echo, or xbox?
Has anyone tried the SiliconDust HD HomeRun Prime ? How does this perform compared to the Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe? I realize one is internal and one is external, but that doesn't concern me much. My main concerns are HD quality, and channel realiability, mainly local channels, TNT, and ESPN. (sports fan)
Thanks!

I'm using an HD Homerun Prime and love it. The only downside is you need the network bandwidth to support it. Wireless streaming is good if you have at least 5g wireless N with good signal strength. Dual Band N is best if you have a device that supports using the dual bands at the same time.
I have InstaTV Pro so I can watch any Live TV channel on my ipad and iphone. The DLNA streaming on the PS3 is really good as well.
