changing package

I had a house sitter click OK on the remote for ESPN which I did not have in my "package"   My whole lineup changed, I get less channels and the bill went up $5.00 a month!  I called as soon as I returned home and told everyone what happened

basically I was told anyone changes something in your home you are responsible. They did give a discount of $4.00 so I'm only paying $1 more a month but it's for less channels than I signed up for.  I agree that you are responsible

but to change your monthly bill to MY credit card without any kind of verification??? That's just wrong!  I just wanted to

go back to what I had a 2 year contract for and was told that package was no longer available!  I just signed up for it in Feb and this happened the end of May.  Dealing with Verizon is a nightmare, talking to a live person is almost impossible

Verizon changes channel packages from time to time. The most recent is when they went to custom hd and did away with select hd which I assume is what you had since you said you just signed up in Feb..

Unfortunately there is no way to revert back to something they no longer offer. Same thing happened last year when they did away with prime hd and went to preferred hd.

As far as the charging your credit card without your knowledge, you have to enroll for auto billing which sounds like you did so I don't see what the issue is there.

If you're worried about someone else changing your packages again there's a few options. 1.) Don't let them use your tv, 2.) create a parental pin for purchases and in the case of changing channel packages 3.) creating a favorites list with all of the channels you watch or get and setting the guide to favs will help prevent that.

They could have let me have the channels that I signed a contract for 3 months before this happened.  If I decide to cancel I'm charged for breaking contract.  Yes I'm signed up for auto pay that doesn't mean they can change billing without

my permission.  Make sure you don't have any kids or visitors in your home that may hit the wrong thing on the remote.

All the pop up ads all you have to do is hit OK!

Unfortunately they can't let you have a channel package that no longer exists once it was switched over. The way their systems are setup doesn't make sense. They should be able to allow it. I will agree with that.

Just because a contract was signed though doesn't mean they can't add, change, remove, add channels at any time. It's covered in the terms of service.

It sucks that your babysitter accidentally hit the wrong button, but as far as I know it's not just a matter of hitting one button. You still have to confirm it again. So they would have had to hit ok twice.

As far as the auto billing goes yes they can charge you  and change the amount. That's the point of it. If a channel package is changed or something is added/removed then the new bill amount will be charged. That's in the auto billing terms. You can always un-enroll if you don't like it.

You can also disable pop ups and most ads within the guide within the menu's settings.

Just do the following:

menu > settings > notifications > popup alerts > enable options > choose never show me again

then go back go to recommendations and turn that off. Then go back to promotions and choose disable.

Setting a parental pin is always a good idea.
