dvr feature request

I have a dvr feature request, with so many people needing to get a replacement DVR to fix one thing or another. I think I may need it too, it would be nice if you could back up your DVR settings. Kind of like backing up your router, everything is on the same network so it would be nice if you could go into your router and click a option to back up DVR Settings. Nothing is more dreaded for me then havening to re schedule all my 5 billion recorded shows. I know its a pipe dream to want it, but boy would it make life easier.

I agree with you, tbh, I think that should be automatically backed up for you via online backup so you dont ever have to worry about it. (I think verizon wireless offeres that, so why not the FiOS DVR?)

Good stuff

Where do you fit all those "5 billion recorded shows". External drive support would be better, and if you could store your settings there it would be great. Or back settings to USB thumb drive. You would think it to be an easy add.

not talking about backing up the shows... just the settings (your parental controls, favorites, dvr schedule, etc.)

I for one think this would be great functionality -- and something the marketing folk could leverage in the fight against the competition, to boot!

Make the option to back up to personal computer on the network... this way you can share and distribute customized lists on the fly by uploading a favorites list to your parent's MR-DVR for example.

Wish list -- ability to delete watched shows from the remote setup box.

A big disappointment with the FIOS system (I switched from DirecTV and had Dish prior to that) is the fact that when you put a program on Hold and then switch channels, the original channel loses the Hold.  When you go back to it, its live and you've lost your spot in the show.  This then requires using the tediously slow rewind functions to get back to where you were.  Pretty much defeats the purpose of the Hold function.  Both Dish and DirecTV have this feature (and as far as I know, so do Comcast and BrightHouse), so it would be great if Verizon would add it to its feature lineup.

One more thing I would like to see, that I keep forgetting to add to this list is to be able to manually set a weekly record time. Like I like to watch ghost hunters, but it conflicts with other shows I watch, so it gets dropped. But it plays 2 hours later again. I would like to be able to tell it to record that show at that time every week. I don't believe I have seen that option, and if it is where whoops. 🙂

The closest I think you could get to that one would be setting up a weekly manual recording to record the show at the time that it isn't conflicting.
