I am going to add an eSATA drive to my Motorola DVR. Is it possible to then unplug the drive, hook it up to a computer and then view the content on that computer?
What format is the content recorded in?
Can it only be viewed on the Fios DVR?
Thanks for any information you might have.

The short answer is no.
The format on the E-SATA drive is not compatible with the PC, and I believe it is encrypted as well. Not only can't you move the drive to a PC (you can, but if you want to do anything with it, you will have to reformat the E-SATA drive, losing all content), but you cannot connect it to any other DVR either. So if you DVR dies, at least for now, you also lose whatever is on the E-SATA drive.
