yesterday we got fios installed along with the home media dvr.  the guide on the box that is the dvr is not working.  there is no program information such as the name of the program or any information.  all the other guides on the other boxes show program information for today and days in the future, but the dvr box does not.  we are unable to set recordings since there in no program information available.

how can i fix this so i can get the guide working and begin setting recordings?

Try rebooting the DVR. Pull the power plug from the back of the box for atleast 30 seconds. This will force the box to reload the guide data. If the problem persists you may need to call fios support and have them reload the software.

tsauter's suggestion is a good one and probably will fix the issue. But if it doesn't, you may need to reboot the router also, because the DVR gets its Guide info and VOD stuff via the router. It is easy to tell whether any STB is communicating with the router; on the STB:

Menu ==> Settings ==> System Information

If you have an IP address other than 0.0.0.0 then your STB is communicating with the router. Also the Network Status will be Online.

I have had FiOS TV for over 4 years now, 2 or 3 times I have had this situation occur, for no obvious reason. The solution has been to reboot the STB via pulling the power and rebooting the router. Sometimes it takes multiple occurances of each to finally get all of the STBs communicating with the router.
