This was just posted yesterday, not 6 weeks ago. And the tentative eta on 1.7 in by months end. But that is a ETA not a firm date given.

Oops.  I was looking at a registration date, not the post date!  Sorry.  Thanks for the information.  I understand it's just an ETA and not a firm date, but is there anything you can tell us about any features 1.7 will bring?

Does anyone know what bug fixes will be released in IMG 1.7?  Also, have they narrowed down a timeframe for release date?

I currently have a HD multi-room dvr and a second HD dvr setop box for to hdtvs.  Will img 1.7 allow me to finally stream HD to my second HD setop box? If so, will I need a different (non-hd dvr) setop box or will the standalone hd dvr work with the multi-room one?

Also, in preparation for the "I can't reveal anything now" line, is there a page on the verizon site that I can frequently check that will give img 1.7 details once it's released (or hopefully, before it's released)?

Thanks

FYI

The SD on a Tivo doesn't look that great now either.

It uses cablecards.  Is there a firmware upgrade for cablecards in the works to fix the sd image problems?

I don't think it is an IMG issue. VZ just cramed as much into their system as anyone else. Do you really think they upgraded all the VHOs to expand the offerings? Could be as little as possible. Perhaps in 2009 they will improve things in the VHOs and 1.7 will support it. I guess they will only know.

I couldn't take all the bugs and lack of basic features in the DVRs, and since I recently downgraded to the Local only service, I'm back to using MythTV for my DVR.  I'm very happy.  No more massive listings of porn and other movie channels I don't get to have to sort through for something I CAN watch.  No more tiny hard drives.  No more "disk format errors".  No more 4:3 UI on my 16:9 HDTV.  I'm now running with 1.5 Terabytes of video storage on a DVR that I can configure to my heart's content.  Also happens to serve of Music and Videos to every uPnP player in my house (like my PS3).  No more monthly fees for bad hardware/software.  Go MythTV.

How do you use MythTV with FIOS?  It requires a cable card/stb?

I'm confused

MythTV is a GPL licensed suite of programs that allow you to build the mythical home media convergence box on your own using Open Source software and operating systems. MythTV is known to work on Linux and Mac OS X (PowerPC and Intel). It does not run on Windows.
