i had my fios service installed earlier this week. as a new customer i would expect not to get an older 6xxx stb which lacks the ability to give me a proper guide in 16:9. your guide sucks on a 16:9 screen when it isn't being displayed in 16:9. i'd like to know why. why give new customers and older stb?

I think that is probably just an inventory issue, I can't think of any good reason they would have done that.
Some of those older model 6416 and 6200's are eligible for a free upgrade in the menu.
See if you have the set top box exchange option in your menu.
menu>customer support>in home agent>set top box exchange.

but it shouldn't be an inventory issue.
april of this year verizon offers to replace the same box i received this week http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Technical-Assistance/Free-Replacement-of-QIP6200-and-QIP6416-ST...
8 months later the boxes that they want to replace are given to a new customer? these shouldn't be in inventory to begin with, correct? so how can it be an inventory issue? it's more of an idiocy issue.
